Katy McConnell represents both multi-national corporations and domestic companies in all aspects of employment and traditional labor law. Ms. McConnell counsels and trains employers on all aspects of the employment relationship, including avoiding discrimination, retaliation, and harassment claims, union avoidance, complying with disability and medical leave requirements, wage and hour issues, employment termination, and employment agreements. Ms. McConnell has extensive experience preparing and advising clients on noncompetition agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, incentive plans, commission plans, and executive compensation agreements.
In addition, Ms. McConnell regularly defends employers in state and federal courts across the U.S. in lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, emotional distress, FLSA and FMLA violations, and other employment-related claims. Ms. McConnell has extensive experience defending and mediating charges filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and equivalent state and local administrative agencies, litigating unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board, and defending employers in arbitrations brought pursuant to collective bargaining agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. McConnell worked as an associate in the Atlanta, Georgia office of an East Coast general practice law firm, where she represented clients in a broad range of commercial litigation, employment litigation, and media issues matters. Previously, she worked in the London office of an international law firm where she focused her practice on international arbitration, commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, complex corporate transactions, and regulatory and fund investment matters.
